Calf Pasture Park Improvements

Norwalk, CT

CLIENT: City of Norwalk

Tom Tavella was the lead landscape architect for the new splash pad at Calf Pasture Beach for the City of Norwalk. With the splash pad being on the beach, the concerns of sand buildup were mitigated by using a seat wall and beach dune to reduce the amount of windblown sands entering the splash pad.

To reduce the impact of water entering the City’s combined sewer system, green infrastructure in the form of biofiltration swales was used to collect the water from the splash pad and infiltrate into the ground, reducing the amount of water entering the sewer system.
