North Hillside Road and Biotechnology Park

Storrs, CT

CLIENT: University of Connecticut

Tom Tavella, FASLA was the lead landscape architect for the design of the North Hillside Road, which is part of the University of Connecticut Biotechnical Park. Working closely with the University, the project set out to compliment the rural setting while attracting high-end technical companies to the new Biotechnology Park. Developing a stunning gateway so users know they have arrived at the park was balanced with the use of silviculture and forest management techniques to enhance the existing forest, which is still being used by the Universities forestry school.
